KUTZTOWN, Pa. – In the home finale of the 2025-26 season, the Kutztown University men's basketball team fell to a strong Shepherd Rams squad, 88-59, in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference East Division game on Saturday's Senior Night inside Keystone Arena.
The Golden Bears (6-18, 3-16 PSAC) were looking to send seniors
Kameron Roberts (Townsend, Del./Middletown) and
Jordan Nkoa Abessolo (Yaoundé, Cameroon/St. Maria Goretti (Md.)) off on a high note in their final action on its home court. The Rams (17-9, 13-6 PSAC) did everything to prevent that from happening, including draining 17 three pointers at a near 60 percent clip on the afternoon.
It was Shepherd's game from start to finish, as the Rams didn't look back after building an 11-point advantage in the game's first four minutes. The visitors opened with an 8-for-11 long distance shooting mark in the first half, and continued pouring on from there.
Kutztown tried to adjust with a more aggressive defensive approach in the second half, but couldn't keep up with a Shepherd team that is streaking into PSAC postseason play in a few weeks' time.
The Golden Bears were led by Nkoa Abessolo's 19-point, 10-rebound double-double, his 12th of the season. Guard
Jalen Bryant (Edgewood, Md./John Carroll) had 15 points and five assists, while
Josh McKoy (Reading, Pa./Berks Catholic) had seven rebounds, five points, three blocks, two steals and an assist in the loss.
The Rams' high-scoring efforts were led by guards Colby White and Brody Davis, who combined for 46 points, including 14 made three-point baskets.
The Golden Bears will wrap up the season on the road this week, with games at East Stroudsburg on Wednesday, Feb. 25, at 7:30 p.m. and Mansfield on Saturday, Feb. 28, at 3 p.m.
