COLONIA, N.J. – After its showing in the three-day Northeast Classic tournament this weekend, the 23rd-ranked Kutztown University women's bowling team saw first-year bowler
Madilyn Bogovic (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Cedar Cliff) collect Rookie of the Week honors from the East Coast Conference, the organization announced Thursday afternoon.
Bogovic, in her first outing of the season, finished 40th out of a 229-bowler field at the Northeast Classic this past weekend, averaging 200.8 pins per game across five traditional games on Saturday. The Mechanicsburg, Pa., native bowled a day-high 238 in the team's highest scoring match against No. 10 Maryville, while she bowled another 200-pin game in the third match of the day against No. 12 Wright State.
The Cedar Cliff High School product notched a 20.22 pin average per frame, including 20.31 pins per baker frame, filling 88.2 percent of total frames on the weekend. Bogovic struck on half of her 136 attempts while converting spares across 76.5 percent of her other 68 attempts, including 85.7 percent of multi-pin non-split spares, leading the team in all six statistical categories.
The rookie, bowling in her first competition of the 2025-26 season after competing on the KU volleyball team, competed in the anchor role on all three days, helping the team to five wins - including a pair over ranked teams - at the Delaware-based event to finish 22nd out of 36 teams.
The Golden Bears (25-13 overall) have a weekend off before traveling to Deptford, N.J., to compete in the Griffin Baker Classic, hosted by Chestnut Hill College, at the Bowlero Deptford bowling alley, on Saturday, Jan. 31, through Sunday, Feb. 1.
