PREVIEW | Women’s Soccer travels to West Chester for PSAC Semifinal contest against Millersville

KUTZTOWN, Pa. – For the third consecutive season, the Kutztown women's soccer team is in the semifinal round of the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Women's Soccer Championship, as they will travel to West Chester University's Rockwell Field to face the fifth-seeded Millersville Marauders on Friday, Nov. 14, at 10 a.m., to earn the right to play for the PSAC Championship on Sunday.

The Golden Bears (12-4-1, No. 2 PSAC East) took down the Crimson Hawks of Indiana (Pa.) on Tuesday afternoon, defeating a 14-win squad to close out a day filled with upsets that favored the East Division, leaving the semifinal round filled with four teams from the East in No. 1 West Chester, No. 2 Kutztown, No. 3 Shepherd and No. 5 Millersville.

In a year that once again featured a strong defensive unit that ranked among the conference's best, it was Kutztown's offense that stole the show on Tuesday against IUP. Junior forward Corinne Morgan (Port Republic, N.J./Cedar Creek) had a second-half hat trick to seal the game for KU, while the team's five goals matched a season high set in its second game against Mansfield. The defense did its job on the other end, holding one of the most balanced squads in the PSAC to one goal on five total shots in the 5-1 win.

Nevertheless, it has been Kutztown's stellar defense that has been the driving force behind the team's regular season success. The unit has been anchored by junior Maura Day (Huntingdon Valley, Pa./Abington), who was named the PSAC East Division Defensive Athlete of the Year on Tuesday. The team has allowed just 11 goals in 16 games, tied for the second-best mark in the conference for the regular season. Goalkeeper Morgan O'Donnell (West Chester, Pa./Bayard Rustin) was twice named a PSAC East Defensive Athlete of the Week and has been a strong presence in goal for the Maroon and Gold.

Kutztown will face off against a Millersville (9-6-3, No. 5 PSAC East) squad that got by No. 4 Bloomsburg in the first round before upsetting Slippery Rock, the top seed in the PSAC West Division. The Marauders and Golden Bears met twice in their regularly scheduled PSAC East slate this season, with KU claiming a 4-1 win at home before the teams played to a 0-0 draw at Millersville.

This is the first postseason meeting between the two teams since the quarterfinal round of the 2021 PSAC Championships, a 1-1 affair claimed by Millersville with a 5-4 advantage in penalty kicks. Kutztown holds a 24-10-6 edge over the Marauders since 1997, with this being the teams' first neutral-site meeting.

Tickets can be purchased through the site linked above. Tickets are $12 for adults and $7 for students (K-12). Students from PSAC institutions are free with a valid student ID. Children who have not yet reached kindergarten (Pre-K) are also free. PSAC passes will be accepted.

The livestream and stats links can be found above, along with the conference's tournament central and more information about the tournament's host, West Chester University.

The matchup between Kutztown and Millersville will take place at 10 a.m. on Friday. The other semifinal game between the East's top-seeded West Chester and third-seeded Shepherd at 1 p.m. The winners of the two semifinal contests will meet in the PSAC Women's Soccer Championship game, which will take place at West Chester on Sunday, Nov. 16, at 1 p.m.
