LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – After the Kutztown University women's soccer team claimed two shutout victories against conference opponents this past week, junior goalkeeper Morgan O'Donnell (West Chester, Pa./Bayard Rustin) was named the East Division Defensive Athlete of the Week by the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference on Monday.
 
O'Donnell didn't waver in the face of adversity against a Shepherd team that hadn't lost a regular season game in 16 tries and put up 18 goals in a single game earlier this season. The West Chester, Pa., native faced 12 total shots and made four saves in the road contest, giving the Golden Bears the edge they needed in the 1-0 victory.
 
The Bayard Rustin product continued to roll at home against Lock Haven, making a pair of saves while backing a strong defense that faced an aggressive Bald Eagles offense that seemed to apply pressure from all over the field. Kutztown picked up a 2-0 victory in the Saturday outing thanks to O'Donnell's performance and a pair of second-half goals.
 
The third-year keeper remains among the best goaltenders in the conference, ranking third in goals against average (.667), shutouts (4) and save percentage (.851). She has started all 11 games for the top team in the PSAC East Division, continuing to anchor a defensive unit that is tied for second in the division in goals allowed.
 
O'Donnell and the Golden Bears (8-3, 6-3 PSAC East) are back in action at Millersville on Wednesday, Oct. 15, with kickoff set for 7 p.m. The team returns to Keystone Field the following Wednesday, October 22, for a matchup against rival West Chester, with kickoff scheduled for 7 p.m.
