NEW CASTLE, Del. – Kutztown women's bowling had a successful opening day of the Wildcat Invitational, winning four of five baker matches Friday in New Castle, Del.
The Golden Bears (44-23 overall) won their first four matches, defeating Dominican 1,028-680, Caldwell 932-799, Mercyhurst 1,040-852 and D'Youville 886-808. KU dropped its fifth and final match to Daemen by just eight pins, 864-856.
The high score on the day came in match three and game four against the Lakers when the Maroon and Gold scored a 260. They also had a 212 in game one and a 235 in game three of match three. Kutztown also scored above a 200 in three games in the opening match, two games in match two and one game in the fourth match.
Megan Hanaway (Forked River, N.J./Lacey Township),
Meghan Ripley (Bel Air, Md./Fallston),
Alyssa Blood (Birdsboro, Pa./Daniel Boone),
Madison Brenneman (York, Pa./Central York) and
Chloe Sromovski (Wilkes-Barre, Pa./G.A.R. Memorial) were the quintet in the lineup for four of the five matches.
Ally Sipe (York, Pa./Central York) started in the lineup and played in match one.
Kutztown is back out on the lanes for day two of the three-day event at Bowlerama.
