INDIANA, Pa. – The Kutztown University men's basketball team dropped a close outing to the Crimson Hawks of Indiana, who won a Tuesday evening Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference game 66-64 at the Kovalchick Complex.
The Golden Bears (3-7, 0-4 PSAC) held a strong lead late in the game and limited the Crimson Hawks (6-5, 3-2 PSAC) to no field goals in the last five plus minutes, but foul trouble from Kutztown opened the door for Indiana to break their three-game losing streak in the end.
Kutztown's efforts were led by guard Jaiden McGhee (Townsend, Del./Middletown) (17 points and nine rebounds) and rookie Josh McKoy (Reading, Pa./Berks Catholic) (13 points and seven rebounds), both leading the team. KU managed 38 percent shooting from the field on the night, and while they hit 17-of-23 free throws, they fell to a much more efficient Crimson Hawk attack.
Big man Amir Cunningham (Middletown, Del./Middletown) turned in an 11-point, 3-block performance in 14 minutes, while Jalen Bryant (Edgewood, Md./John Carroll) was held to 11 points by the strong Indiana defense. The Crimson Hawks overcame 12 turnovers on the night, using four efficient scorers in their victory.
The game was close throughout the night, as Indiana's seven-point lead late in the first was the largest by either team, and no team had a longer run than Kutztown's seven-point stretch in the second half.
The Golden Bears return home before Christmas to face California (Pa.) in the last game of 2024 on Saturday, Dec. 21, at 3 p.m. at Keystone Arena.
