KUTZTOWN, Pa. – For the third time this season, Kutztown football has set a new program benchmark in the national poll as KU has risen to third in this week's AFCA Division II Poll, announced Monday.
Â
Kutztown achieved its first-ever top five ranking a month ago in the AFCA's Week 6 Poll. KU spent two weeks at No. 5 before ascending to No. 4 two weeks ago. The Maroon and Gold are one of just two teams in the top five undefeated, as top-ranked Valdosta State is 8-0. There are only three undefeated teams in the poll, as Charleston, which is also in Super Region One, is 9-0.
Â
In the D2Football.com Top 25, KU moved up one spot to No. 3.
Â
The Golden Bears (9-0 overall, 6-0 PSAC East) are coming off a 49-17 victory at Millersville, a season-high for points scored. Kutztown returned two interceptions for touchdowns during a 28-point first quarter and went on to wrap up its second straight PSAC East title on Saturday.
Â
Kutztown has its final East Divisional game this weekend as it hosts West Chester on Saturday, Nov. 9, at noon from Andre Reed Stadium.
