CANYON, Texas – Kutztown women's basketball finished up its two-games in two-days trip in Canyon, Texas, dropping a non-conference game to perennial power Lubbock Christian 64-41 Saturday afternoon at the D2CCA Tipoff Classic at West Texas A&M University.
The Golden Bears (0-2 overall) were put into a hole early on, falling behind 14-2 after the first quarter, and then could not dig themselves out. KU trailed 31-17 at halftime and 46-27 after three quarters.
Olivia Smelas (Jim Thorpe, Pa./Jim Thorpe) stuffed the stat sheet, finishing as the lone Golden Bear in double figures in scoring with 10 points and had seven rebounds, three assists, three steals and two blocks.
Jess Aponik (Philadelphia, Pa./Germantown Academy) just missed double digits as the freshman netted nine points in 15 minutes of action.
Bella Arcuri (Fallsington, Pa./Pennsbury) tallied five points and
Leila Hurley (Jim Thorpe, Pa./Jim Thorpe),
Taylor Gurysh (Langhorne, Pa./Neshaminy) and
Kitty Randa (Horsham, Pa./Hatboro-Horsham) all recorded three points.
Naia Pulliam (Wilmington, Del./St. Elizabeth),
Abbey Hearn (Lewes, Del./Cape Henlopen),
Anaya Price (Newark, Del./Caravel Academy) and Alexa Windush all rounded out the scoring with two points apiece.
Kutztown will be back in action next weekend in the CIAA/PSAC Challenge at Shippensburg. KU will take on Lincoln on Friday, Nov. 8, at 1 p.m., and then will play Fayetteville State on Saturday at 4 p.m.
