BLOOMSBURG, Pa. –
Grace Harrold (York, Pa./Central York) and
Megan Doyle (Hackettstown, N.J./Hackettstown) each found the back of the cage in the third and fourth quarters, respectively, and for the fourth straight game, No. 2 Kutztown field hockey came out victorious in a one-goal game, defeating No. 4 Bloomsburg 2-1 Wednesday afternoon on the road in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference matchup.
Â
It was the fifth time in as many games that the Golden Bears (9-1 overall, 3-0 PSAC) were tested. The last three games also went to overtime.
Â
But Doyle made sure to send her team back on the bus with the win in regulation, recording her fourth goal of the season with just 5:12 left to play in a 1-1 deadlock.
Â
The Huskies (10-3, 2-2) scored the game's opening goal just 7:35 into the first quarter to take an early 1-0 lead. It was the second time in the last three games that the Maroon and Gold were forced to come from behind.
Â
With the score 1-0 in favor of Bloomsburg at halftime, it didn't take long out of the intermission for Kutztown to respond and get on the scoreboard. Harrold picked the perfect time to secure her first goal of the 2024 season as she beat the Huskies goalie 11:06 into the third quarter to tie the score at 1-1.
Â
Kutztown finished with 19 shots overall and six on goal, compared to four shots for Bloomsburg, two on cage. KU also finished with a 10-3 advantage in penalty corners.
Â
Mia Kepler (Wall Township, N.J./Wall) started in cage for the Maroon and Gold and made one save.
Lorelai Lehenky (Coatesville, Pa./Coatesville) played the final 45:00 and earned the win.
Â
Kutztown will welcome the newest member of the PSAC, Frostburg State, to Andre Reed Stadium for a conference matchup on Friday evening at 6 p.m.
