INDIANAPOLIS -- Unbeaten and fourth-ranked Kutztown University football was one of 10 teams from NCAA Division II's Super Region One to appear in the initial 2024 regional rankings, released Monday evening.
The Golden Bears improved to 8-0 on the season and 5-0 in the PSAC East with last Saturday's 24-0 shutout victory over budding rival Shepherd. Kutztown is the only remaining unbeaten PSAC team and one of just six left in NCAA DII.
Monday's rankings were released in alphabetical order, signifying teams under consideration for the upcoming NCAA Division II Championship playoffs. The Maroon and Gold are hoping to gain a postseason berth for the fifth time in the last six seasons and seventh time in program history. KU is the defending Super Region One champion, having advanced to the national semifinals for the first time in school history in 2023.
Â
Seven teams from each of the four super regions will qualify for the NCAA DII playoffs, with the top seed in each region earning a first round bye. The committee will announce its first set of numeric rankings next Monday, Nov. 4. Super Region One includes teams from the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference, the Mountain East Conference, the Northeast 10 Conference and the Great Midwest Athletic Conference.
Â
Kutztown can clinch its second straight PSAC East championship and fourth in the last five seasons with a win at Millersville this coming Saturday.
