Box Score MILLERSVILLE, Pa. – The Kutztown University volleyball team opened the weekend with a three-set loss against Millersville on Friday night in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference East Division battle at Pucillo Gymnasium.
Kutztown (1-18, 0-6 PSAC East) hung tough with their opponent, including fighting a close battle late into the second set, but a desperate Marauders (9-10, 2-4 PSAC East) squad broke a five-game losing streak and topped the Golden Bears for their second conference win of the season.
KU was again led by sophomore Sarah Hess (Landisville, Pa./Hempfield) and freshman Grace White (Quakertown, Pa./Quakertown), who recorded nine and eight kills, respectively. First-year setter Emma Baldridge (Damascus, Md./Damascus) paced the team in assists (12), digs (10) and service aces (3).
Bryanna Carter (Abingdon, Md./Edgewood) managed four kills while playing all three sets, while Christina Lockett (Gaithersburg, Md./Tuscarora) recorded a pair of kills and served the team's fourth ace of the night. Seniors Julia Post (Sellersville, Pa./Pennridge) and Anna Parmer (Firestone, Colo./Mead) each saw time against the Marauders, recording one kill apiece in some of their most extensive action of the season.
Kutztown will remain on the road as they face another PSAC East foe in West Chester on Saturday, Oct. 19 at 1 p.m. inside the Hollinger Field House. The Golden Bears return to Keystone Arena on Wednesday, Oct. 23, at 7 p.m. for their final regular season non-conference match against Jefferson.
