KUTZTOWN, Pa. –
Gabe Gipli (Levittown, Pa./Harry S. Truman) helped lead a stingy effort by the Kutztown defense last weekend in defeating No. 13 Shepherd on the road. The redshirt-senior defensive lineman had a breakout individual game and took home this week's Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference East Division Defensive Athlete of the Week, announced by the league office Monday afternoon.
Â
In the 20-3 victory for the Golden Bears (2-2 overall, 1-0 PSAC East), Gipli tied a season-high with three tackles, came away with his first career interception and, not only forced a fumble, but recovered it as well.
Â
On the season, Gipli has 10 total tackles, 0.5 tackles for loss, an interception, a forced fumble and a quarterback hurry. The KU defense ranks in the top-five in the PSAC in many different statistical categories, including fifth in points allowed per game (19.8) and third in total yards per game (271.8).
