Field Hockey fourth in NFHCA Preseason poll

KUTZTOWN, Pa. – Kutztown Field Hockey enters the 2023 season, which opens this week, nationally-ranked. KU was voted fourth in the Penn Monto/NFHCA Division II preseason coaches poll, the organization announced on Tuesday.

The Golden Bears, which ranked second in the National Field Hockey Coaches Association's final national poll, finished 16-3 overall and on top of the PSAC with an 8-1 record. They also reached a No. 1 ranking in the NFHCA poll during the season for the first time in program history.

The Maroon and Gold were third in last week's Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference's preseason poll, behind East Stroudsburg and Shippensburg, which were voted one and two, respectively, in the national poll. West Chester is third, followed by KU and Millersville, showcasing five PSAC teams all in the top-five.

The Penn Monto/NFHCA Division II National Coaches Poll is voted on by NFHCA member coaches and has no bearing on selection to the 2023 NCAA Division II Field Hockey Championship.

Kutztown opens its season next Thursday, Aug. 31, with a non-conference game against New Haven at 3 p.m., from Andre Reed Stadium.
