Golden Bears win four of five, down LIU in match play on the final day of the Griffin Baker Classic

NEW CASTLE, Del. --The Kutztown University women's bowling team captured four of five matches, including a match play win over LIU, on the second and final day of the Griffin Baker Classic down in Delaware on Sunday. The Golden Bears finished 11th out of 20 teams over the course of the weekend.

The Golden Bear's 4-2 match play win against LIU came in dramatic fashion. Alexis Schweizer (Plymouth, Pa./Wyoming Valley West) entered the match in the final two frames, helping KU capture a victory in her individual matchup. It then came down to Chloe Sromovski (Wilkes-Barre, Pa./G.A.R. Memorial), who rolled a double in the tenth frame to take her match 170-166 and secure the win 4-2 for the Golden Bears.

KU opened the day with a dominating 884-550 win over Holy Family, followed by an 883-812 win over Roberts Wesleyan in the second match. KU's only loss of the day came against Wagner in match three by a narrow by two pins 901-899. The Golden Bears then bounced back against Coppin State, winning win a team-high pin total of 956 to Coppin State's 843. 

KU's strong performance on Sunday helped the Golden Bears finish with a 6-4 record over the course of the weekend. 

The Golden Bears are back in action in two weeks. KU returns to New Castle for the Wildcat DII/DIII Invitational, hosted by Willmington (Del.) from Friday, Feb. 17 until Sunday, Feb. 19.
