Women’s bowling goes three-for-three on day two, tops Molloy to capture third at CSU Lady Eagles Invitational

BALTIMORE, Md. -- The Golden Bears won all three matches, including a best-of-seven bracket match win over Molloy 4-3 to capture third place at the CSU Lady Eagles Invitational Sunday at AMF Woodlawn Lanes down in Baltimore.

KU (19-8) entered the day in third place after a 3-2 record on Saturday and stayed put thanks to back-to-back wins in baker format to start Sunday.

The lineup of Sydney Snyder (Morrisville, Pa./Conwell-Egan Catholic), Meghan Ripley (Bel Air, Md./Fallston), Megan Hanaway (Forked River, N.J./Lacey Township), Madison Brenneman (York, Pa./Central York), and Chloe Sromovski (Wilkes-Barre, Pa./G.A.R. Memorial) topped Fayetteville State in the first match of the day 821-776. The Golden Bears kept the momentum rolling in its match against Howard, starting with a 219 in game one to win 901-793. Alyssa Blood (Birdsboro, Pa./Daniel Boone), Hanaway, Ripley, Brenneman, and Sromovski saw action in that match.

The Maroon & Gold showed great fight in its third-place match against Molloy after dropping the first two games (211-178, 210-155). KU tied the match at 2-2 after winning game three 191-161 and game four 224-152. The Lions were on the verge of victory after a 220-165 win in match five, but Angela Reynolds' squad rattled off a 206-156 win to tie the match at 3-3. Game seven was only separated by five pins, but KU held on to win 183-178 and capture third place at the Invitational.

It's the second time this season the Golden Bears faced and topped Molloy in a third-place match, with the other time coming during the Golden Bear Invite where KU won 4-1.

This weekend wraps up the Golden Bears' schedule in 2023. KU is back in action on Jan. 26-28 at the New Jersey Open hosted by Monmouth.
