Baker sets season high in saves as No. 5 women’s soccer extends shutout streak to eight games in tie against Bloomsburg

BLOOMSBURG, Pa. -- Senior goalkeeper Cassandra Baker (Harrisburg, Pa./Central Dauphin) made a season-high seven saves as the fifth-ranked Kutztown University women's soccer (11-0-5, 10-0-4 PSAC East) recorded its eighth straight shutout in a 0-0 draw against Bloomsburg (6-4-5, 6-3-4 PSAC East) Wednesday night at Steph Pettit Stadium.

It was yet another defensive battle between the PSAC East foes after the first game back in September also ended 0-0. Unlike the first game, Bloomsburg had the better chances in the contest. The Huskies outshot KU 14-8, with a 7-3 shots on goal advantage. The Golden Bears did have more corner kick opportunities in the game (5-0).

The backline of Bridget Curtis (Warrington, Pa./Central Bucks South), Skyler Jordan (Nazareth, Pa./Nazareth), Dana Wentz (Lancaster, Pa./Conestoga Valley), and Maura Day (Huntington Valley, Pa./Abington) was lockdown in front of Baker in goal. The Golden Bears are on a historic shutout streak of 8 games, with the last goal they conceded coming on Sept. 23. To go along with her season-high seven saves, Baker leads the PSAC in goals against (5), goals against average (.338), and shutouts (9).

Offensively, Joslyn Stoltz (Levittown, Pa./Calvary Christian Academy) led the Golden Bears with two shots on goal, while Lexy Endres (Medford, N.J./Shawnee) had one. The reigning PSAC East Athlete of the Week had Caroline McDonald (Exton, Pa./Downingtown East) had two shots along with Katelyn Economopoulos (Grantville, Pa./Lower Dauphin). Lauren Bull had five shots, three of which were on goal for the Huskies.

The Golden Bears have two more games remaining in the regular season and can secure the No.1 seed in the PSAC East with a win in the final two games. KU is back in action on Saturday, Oct. 28 at Mansfield at 1 p.m.
