KUTZTOWN, Pa. –
Cat Farole (Orefield, Pa./Parkland) recorded a career-high 46 assists and
Sadie Doss (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Mechanicsburg) tallied 28 kills, one shy of a career-best and two short of a program record for kills in match, but Kutztown women's volleyball lost in four sets to Bloomsburg Friday night in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Eastern Division match at Keystone Arena. Scores of the match were 19-25, 25-20, 22-25 and 16-25.
The Golden Bears (7-11 overall, 0-6 PSAC East) are still searching for their first win in conference play on the season.
Farole also finished with 10 digs, joining three others in double figures in digs. Doss had 11,
Gabriela Fialova (Ledec nad Sazavou, Czech Republic/Sportovni Gymnazium Ludvika Danka) recorded 16 digs and 19 kills and
Gianna Agosti (Nesquehoning, Pa./Marian Catholic) contributed 13 digs and four assists.
Sarah Hess (Landisville, Pa./Hempfield) tallied six kills and 1.5 blocks, tied for a team-high with
Tessa Van Dam (Little Falls, N.J./Passaic Valley).
Kutztown scored the first six points of set one and jumped ahead 15-8 midway through, but had its lead slip late. On top 18-16 following a kill by Hess, Bloomsburg went on a 7-3 run to take the opening set. KU responded though and also began the second set with a rally, going ahead 10-4 after
Kristina Diaz (Woodbridge, Va./Forest Park) recorded a kill. Unlike in the set prior, this time, the Golden Bears were able to hold onto their lead. Even when the Huskies cut their deficit to 20-19, the Maroon and Gold rattled off five of the next six points to even up the match at 1-1.
Set three was back-and-forth with 14 different ties and five lead changes between the two teams. With the score deadlocked at 19-19, Bloomsburg earned a point on a KU bad set to go up 20-19 and never gave up the lead the rest of the way.
Kutztown will complete its first rotation of the PSAC East Division tomorrow, Saturday, Oct. 14, when it hosts Lock Haven at 4 p.m., from Keystone Arena.
