Golden Bears drop PSAC road contest to Shepherd 82-73

SHEPHERDSTOWN, W. VA.-- The Kutztown University men's basketball team (5-14, 5-9 PSAC) dropped a PSAC battle against Shepherd (11-9, 8-6 PSAC) 82-73 Saturday afternoon down in West Virginia.

Jalen Bryant (Edgewood, Md./John Carroll) led the Golden Bears offensively, netting a team-high 22 points. Kyree Generett (York, Pa./William Penn) scored 16 points and grabbed six rebounds in the loss. Robert Tucker (Philadelphia, Pa./Paul Robeson) returned to his double-double ways, scoring 12 points while grabbing ten boards. Josh Samec (Tresckow, Pa./Hazleton), Ryan Glassmacher (Stewartsville, N.J./Bethlehem Catholic (Pa.)), Kyle Whippen (Arlington,Va./Westfield), and Wesley Butler (Reading, Pa./Reading) rounded out the scoring for the Golden Bears.

Jon Preston led Shepherd with a double-double, scoring 23 points and grabbing ten rebounds. Phillip Jordan and Daniel McClain-Corley were the other Rams to score in double figures.

The Golden Bears battled alongside the Rams for most of the contest, but the three ball proved to be the difference in the game. Shepherd made 11 threes in the game compared to the Golden Bears' four. The Rams also had a slight advantage in the rebounding department 41-37.

KU entered the second half trailing by five points, but a big run from the Rams saw them take an 18-point lead with seven minutes left. The Golden Bears fought back and cut the lead to single digits, but Shepherd was able to fend off the comeback effort and hold on for the 82-73 win.

KU is back on the road on Wednesday for a PSAC clash against rivals West Chester. That game from West Chester will kick off at 7:30 p.m.
