No.12 KU women's soccer draws East Stroudsburg 1-1

Caroline McDonald scores second goal of the campaign, Emme Wolfel makes season-high six saves

EAST STROUDSBURG, Pa.- The 12th-ranked Kutztown University women's soccer team (3-0-1, 2-0-1 PSAC) earned a hard-fought point after a 1-1 draw away at East Stroudsburg (3-0-1, 1-0-1 PSAC) Wednesday night.

Freshman Caroline McDonald (Exton, Pa./Downingtown East) continues to impress for the Golden Bears, scoring her second goal of the season in the first half. The goal was an effort of sheer determination, as McDonald powered her way through multiple Warrior defenders off the half turn and slid the ball under the goalkeeper for the 1-0 lead. She also registered a team-high four shots in the game.

The Warriors found the equalizers 20 minutes after the break through Millie Smith. The goal broke up a 335:20 minute shutout streak that KU was on to start the season.

The Golden Bears were out shot in the game for the first time this season, but the defense put in another solid performance.
Junior Emme Wolfel (Pottstown, Pa./Pottstown) stood on her head in goal yet again in 2022. Despite conceding her first goal in four games, Wolfel made a season-high six saves in the win, with four coming in the first half.

Isabella Rossetti (Cherry Hill, N.J./Cherry Hill East) also put in a solid shift on the offensive side of the ball for Erik Burstein's squad. The junior recorded three shots in the game, with two being on goal. Kayla Argen (Cresco, Pa./Pocono Mountain East), Melissa Ulrich (Harrisburg, Pa./Susquehanna Township), Taylor Rapel (Phillipsburg, N.J./Phillipsburg), and Joslyn Stoltz (Levittown, Pa./Calvary Christian Academy) all also had one shot in the game.

After two straight road contests, the Golden Bears return back to the comfy confines of Keystone Field on Saturday, Sept. 10 against Mansfield. That game will kick off at 1 p.m.
