Box Score PHILADELPHIA, Pa. -- For the second day in-a-row, the Kutztown University women's volleyball team was playing in a five-set match, and for the second straight day, KU came out on the wrong end, falling 3-2 by scores of 27-25, 20-25, 13-25, 25-17, 10-15, Saturday afternoon in a non-conference match at Jefferson University.
The Golden Bears (6-6 overall) held a 2-0 lead in their Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Eastern Division opener last night at East Stroudsburg, but lost the next three sets. Saturday afternoon, the Maroon and Gold won the first set, but lost the next two before tying the match through four. The Rams (8-1) were able to close it out scoring the final three points after KU cut its deficit to 12-10.
Sadie Doss (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Mechanicsburg) led the Kutztown offense with 22 kills, her second consecutive match with 20-plus kills. She also added 16 digs.
Adrianna Derstine (Barto, Pa./Boyertown) recorded 19 kills, seven digs and two blocks.
Lexi Morrow (Landisburg, Pa./West Perry) finished with 45 assists and 15 digs.
Gianna Agosti (Nesquehoning, Pa./Marian Catholic) and
Taylor Malone (Horseheads, N.Y./Horseheads) combined for 11 digs.
Kutztown is set for a pair of PSAC East matches next weekend, beginning with a road match at Shippensburg next Friday, Sept. 23, followed by a match at Shepherd the following day.
