PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – The Kutztown University women's lacrosse team put forth a valiant comeback effort in the fourth quarter but fell short in falling 13-10 Friday afternoon in a non-conference game at Jefferson University that was made up from a March 13, postponement.

The Golden Bears (4-7 overall) found themselves behind 12-5 after three quarters of play and trailing 13-5 just over two minutes into the fourth quarter, but netted five consecutive goals in a span of 11:11, but ran out of time in their comeback attempt.

Olivia Eilbacher (Cherry Hill, N.J./Camden Catholic),
Shannon Lake (Medford, N.Y./Patchogue-Medford) and
Emma Meakim (Hatboro, Pa./Upper Moreland) each finished with two goals to lead the KU offense, with Meakim adding a team-high three assists.
Sam Graf (Wayne, N.J./Wayne Hills) tallied a goal and two assists and
Lexie Jackson (Barnegat, N.J./Barnegat),
Morgan Hurd (Schnecksville, Pa./Parkland) and
Kelly Askins (Galloway, N.J./Absegami) all had a goal a piece for the Maroon and Gold.

The Rams (7-3) scored the game's first five goals in the opening 10:39 to take a 5-0 advantage early. Kutztown found the back of the net twice to finish off the quarter and then once again at the 6:10 mark of the second to cut its deficit to just two at 5-3, but Jefferson scored two of the next three to go up 7-4 at halftime.

Jefferson then scored the first three goals of the third quarter and five of six overall in the period to take control of the contest at 12-5 after three.

Brooke-Lynn Grim (Abbottstown, Pa./New Oxford) and
Kayla Brooks (Mountville, Pa./Hempfield) led KU with two caused turnovers, and Grim and
Cyrose Conteh (Elizabethtown, Pa./Elizabethtown) both collected three ground balls to lead Kutztown.
Jenna Blesson (Sparta, N.J./Lenape Valley Regional) finished with nine saves.

Kutztown returns to Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference competition next Wednesday, April 13, against Bloomsburg at 4 p.m., at Keystone Field.
