WEST CHESTER, Pa. – The Kutztown University men's basketball will be happy to be back home for its next game. KU capped a four-game road swing in a nine-day span Wednesday night, falling for the fourth time away from Keystone Arena, 104-77, at West Chester in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference East Divisional game.
The Golden Bears (7-18 overall, 4-15 PSAC) did not have any answers for the Golden Rams (15-9, 9-9).
Channick Nkoma (Libreville, Gabon/Lycee National Leon M'ba) scored four of his team's first six points to put Kutztown out in front 6-4 with 2:14 off the clock in the first half. But from that point on, West Chester scored eight straight and built a double-digit lead with 7:44 to go until halftime. WCU led KU 61-34 going into the locker room and the Maroon and Gold could not get closer than 23 the rest of the way.
Jalen Bryant (Edgewood, Md./John Carroll) led KU with 15 points.
Evan-Eric Longino (Furlong, Pa./Germantown Academy) tallied 13 points and Nkoma recorded a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds. Eight other Golden Bears got into the score column, including eight from
Robert Tucker (Philadelphia, Pa./Paul Robeson), seven by both
Wesley Butler (Reading, Pa./Reading) and
Akeem Taylor Jr. (Chester, Pa./Chester), and six a piece out of
Oenis Medina (Reading, Pa./Reading) and
Winston Edwards (East Stroudsburg, Pa./Pocono Mountain East).
Kutztown will return home for the first time since Feb. 5, when it hosts Mansfield this Saturday, Feb. 19, for senior day at 3 p.m. KU will recognize
Moe Williams (Townsend, Del./Life Center Academy (N.J.)),
Ky'Aire Sumpter (Harrisburg, Pa./Harrisburg) and Longino prior to the game.
