UNION, N.J. -- Annamarie Rodier's (Mount Laurel, N.J./Lenape) impressive freshman season continued Friday night when she swept the 500-yard and 1000-yard freestyle races during a dual meet at Kean. The host Cougars triumphed in the remaining 12 events to stay unbeaten on the season by a 184-77 score.

Rodier was the strongest distance swimmer in the pool by a wide margin. In the first individual event of the evening, the 1000 free, Rodier led wire-to-wire and eclipsed a PSAC qualifying time once again with an 11:00.89. By race's end, she led her closest competition by more than half a minute.

The Mount Laurel, N.J., native backed up her performance in the 1000 free with an equally dominating effort in the 500 free late in the meet. Rodier jumped out to the lead right off the blocks and never looked back, claiming the victory by almost 15 seconds in 5:23.82. As she's done on multiple occasions this season, Rodier bested the PSAC qualifying threshold.

Though Rodier was Kutztown's (4-5) only event winner, the Golden Bears posted six runner-up finishes, including a pair by fellow freshman Natasha Sheehy (Tempe, Australia/MLC School) in the 100 backstroke (1:05.41) and 200 backstroke (2:19.76).

Frannie Pease-Wingenter (Goodyear, Ariz./Millennium) was second in the 50 free (25.97), as was Ana Soto (Hamburg, N.J./Vernon Township) in the 100 free (56.63). Both of KU's relay teams, the 200 medley and 400 free, also took second.

Three swimmers set season-best times in their respective events for the Maroon and Gold. Olivia Bing (Newtown, Pa./Council Rock North) had a 12:14.34 in the 1000 free, Alexandra Wetzel (Red Lion, Pa./Red Lion) went 2:35.59 in the 200 back and Bryana Burke (Perkasie, Pa./Pennridge) registered a 2:33.14 in the 200 individual medley.

Abby Burns led Kean (7-0) with three event wins in the 100 free, 200 free and 200 IM.

Kutztown will resume its schedule after the holidays with its final home meet of the season Saturday, Jan. 14, at 1 p.m., against East Stroudsburg.
