SINKING SPRING, Pa. -- The Kutztown University women's bowling team earned victories over D'Youville (946-870), Bloomfield (877-871), and Chestnut Hill (926-811) to open the Golden Bear Invite with a 3-2 record Saturday at Berks Lanes.

The Golden Bears opened the day on fire, taking down D'Youville. The duo Chloe Sromovski (Wilkes-Barre, Pa./G.A.R. Memorial) and Madison Brenneman (York, Pa./Central York) led the way for KU, posting scores of 228 and 207 in the first match. The team averaged 189.2 as the Saints could only muster a 174 average. It was the highest pin total of the day for the Golden Bears.

The lineup of Brenneman, Sromovski, Ally Sipe (York, Pa./Central York), Shelby Wunch (Easton, Md./Easton), and Rachel Wagner (Cheektowaga, N.Y./Depew) then pulled out a narrow six-pin victory over Bloomfield in the third match of the day on the back of a 216 performance from Wunch. Jordan Dean (Manorville, N.Y./Eastport South Manor) stepped in for Wagner in the fifth game and helped the Golden Bears steamroll Chestnut Hill by a 115-pin margin in the fifth and final match of the day.

KU's two defeats came to Molloy (928-946) in the second match and No. 19 Morgan State (895-868) in the fourth match of the day.

Sromovski made the all-tournament team by virtue of her fourth-place average in the individual standings. The junior from Wilkes-Barre, Pa., registered a team-leading 197.6 average across all five matches. Sipe was 15th at 186.8 and Wunch 20th at 182.6.
