MANSFIELD, Pa. – The Kutztown University women's soccer team featured four different goal scorers, two in each half, to help it earn a 4-0 shutout victory on the road at Mansfield Saturday night under the lights.
Â
The Golden Bears (8-3-3 overall, 7-3-3 PSAC) were able to bounce back from a 1-0 defeat to Bloomsburg last Wednesday, Oct. 12. They had their second highest scoring output of the season, just behind the five goals they scored against the Mounties (2-11-2, 0-11-2) in a home game back on Sept. 10.
Â
Kayla Argen (Cresco, Pa./Pocono Mountain East) and
Isabella Rossetti (Cherry Hill, N.J./Cherry Hill East) found the back of the net for their team-leading sixth goals of the season.
Allie Tierney (Galloway, N.J./Absegami) and
Lexy Endres (Medford, N.J./Shawnee) also tallied a goal each for KU. Argen also had a career-high three assists, which also ties a program record for most in a single contest. Endres also recorded an assist.
Â
Rossetti opened the scoring in the 12th minute and then Tierney added the second less than four minutes before halftime to push KU's advantage to 2-0 at the intermission. Endres and Argen rounded out the KU scoring with two goals in the final 13:34, 7:51 apart from each other.
Â
Emme Wolfel (Pottstown, Pa./Pottstown) finished with four saves and earned the victory in the goal.
Â
The Maroon and Gold sit in third place in the PSAC East Division with 24 points. They are six points behind the Huskies for second place.
Â
Kutztown will have a week off before its next game when it travels to take on nationally-ranked West Chester next Saturday, Oct. 22, at 2:30 p.m. KU will look to amass a little revenge after falling to the Golden Rams (13-0, 12-0) 1-0 back on Sept. 21.
