EAST STROUDSBURG, Pa.- The Kutztown University women's basketball team made it six wins in-a-row after taking down East Stroudsburg on the road 58-40 in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference East Division matchup on Saturday inside Koehler Fieldhouse.
KU managed to hold the Warriors to only fourteen points in the first half, four of which came in the second quarter when the Golden Bears (12-3 overall, 5-1 PSAC) took control of the game and led by double figures at halftime (25-14).
Kutztown locked down the Warriors (1-9, 0-7) offense, holding them to under thirty percent from the floor overall (14-of-47). The Golden Bears recorded ten blocks in the competition, led by Abbey Hearn (Lewes, Del./Cape Henlopen), who compiled a team-high four. Casey Remolde (Philadelphia, Pa./Saint Basil Academy) added three, Naia Pulliam (Wilmington, Del./St. Elizabeth) had two and Alexis Smith (Dauphin, Pa./Central Dauphin) contributed one for KU, which lead the nation with 103 blocks.
The Golden Bears separated themselves late in the first half, scoring 13 unanswered points to end the second quarter. The Maroon and Gold had three different players score in double figures, led by Rylee Derr (Lititz, Pa./Warwick) with a team-high 13 points. Smith and Zara Zerman (Jonestown, Pa./Northern Lebanon) each added ten points. All three shot fifty percent or better from beyond the arc, while the team shot just under at 45.5% (10-for-22).
Remolde stuffed the stat sheet with seven points, 11 rebounds, three blocks and two steals. Hearn also had seven points to go along with the four blocks and two rebounds. Annie Whalen (Ivyland, Pa./Archbishop Wood) tallied five points and three rebounds. Skyler West (York Springs, Pa./Bermudian Springs) scored her first career points on a three-pointer with 0:07 left to play. Pulliam totaled two points and Noelle Baxter (Warminster, Pa./Archbishop Wood) rounded out the scoring for KU with one point.

East Stroudsburg managed to close down on Kutztown's lead to only five points in the third quarter. The Golden Bears managed to close the door in the fourth quarter, extending their lead to a game-high eighteen points in the final minutes of the competition.
Kutztown improves to 12-3 on the season and 5-1 in conference play. The Maroon and Gold find themselves at the top of the PSAC East by one-half game over Shepherd, as they approach the halfway point in the season.The Golden Bears look to continue their streak as they are set to take on Shippensburg at home on Monday, Jan. 10th, at 5:30pm., from Keystone Arena.
