Women's Basketball takes down Lock Haven behind 23 points from Abbey Hearn

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. - The Golden Bear women's basketball team keeps rolling as Kutztown takes down Lock Haven in a one-sided Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference East Division competition. The Maroon and Gold have dominated this match up in recent history winning their last nine games against the Bald Eagles. Kutztown kept the streak alive in its 65-44 victory to improve to 14-3 on the season and 7-1 in the PSAC East.

The Golden Bears have now won eight games in-a-row and are one win away from tying the program record for highest win streak of nine.

Sophomore Abbey Hearn (Lewes, Del./Cape Henlopen) led the charge for the Golden Bears, scoring a career-high 23 points while grabbing six rebounds in the game. Her scoring output was more than double what the KU defense allowed Lock Haven to score. Naia Pulliam (Wilmington, Del./St. Elizabeth) added 11 points, four rebounds and two blocks to the stat sheet, while senior guard Alexis Smith (Dauphin, Pa./Central Dauphin) rounded out the double digit scorers with 10 points, while adding three rebounds and two assists.

Kutztown was in command early on with the Bald Eagles' last lead coming just four minutes into the game. The Golden Bears pulled away in the first half, leading 36-23 going into halftime. The Maroon and Gold would manage to have their best offensive quarter coming out of half, out scoring Lock Haven 19-12 in the third quarter, going on a 10-0 run to end the quarter.

The Bald Eagles outscored the Kutztown in the fourth quarter but it was far too late as they were already behind 45-33. There were 12 different Golden Bears that checked into tonight's win, giving some much needed rest to some of their starters.

Currently Kutztown's second leading scorer all time, Rylee Derr (Lititz, Pa./Warwick), finished the night with nine points, and now sits just six points shy of the all-time record. Casey Remolde (Philadelphia, Pa./Saint Basil Academy) finished with four points and tied a season-high with five blocks. She leads the PSAC in blocks on the year with 43.

The Golden Bears stand on top of the PSAC East standings and look to continue their success as they are set to take on competition from the PSAC West in a crossover game with Mercyhurst coming to town. The game is set to tip off at 1:00 p.m., on Saturday, Jan. 15th in Keystone Arena.
