KUTZTOWN, Pa. – Three days after its first defeat of the 2021 season, the fifth-ranked Kutztown University field hockey team got back on track with a 4-0 non-conference win over Mount Olive on Friday afternoon at Andre Reed Stadium.

The Golden Bears (4-1 overall) offense was led by
Rachel Dusman (Chambersburg, Pa./Chambersburg). The senior not only tallied two of her team's four goals, she also added an assist on the third goal, a tap in by junior
Abby Thorius (Strasburg, Pa./Lampeter-Strasburg) in front of cage off of a penalty corner in the third quarter, her second on the year. Senior
Olivia Blasone (East Berlin, Pa./Bermudian Springs) rounded out the KU scoring with her first goal this season, also in the third quarter, while adding as assist on Dusman's opener in the first quarter.
Alyssa Donato (Cedarville, N.J./Cumberland Regional),
Andie Sierer (Hummelstown, Pa./Lower Dauphin) and
Jillian Buchman (Drums, Pa./Hazleton) each contributed an assist on the day.

Dusman, the 2018 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Freshman of the Year, wreaked havoc on the Trojans defense all day. She led the Maroon and Gold with 10 shots, including six on goal. She also forced a number of penalty corners, which KU had an astonishing 19-2 advantage throughout the game. Kutztown outshot Mount Olive 27-9 overall, 15-9 on cage.

Katie Dotterweich (Douglassville, Pa./Daniel Boone) finished with a season-high nine saves to earn the victory. Head coach
Marci Scheuing was able to get some valuable experience for the majority of her roster, as 14 players outside of the starting lineup earned minutes Friday.

Kutztown's non-conference game scheduled with Adelphi for next Thursday, Sept. 23, was canceled with no makeup date set. As of now, KU's next game will be its PSAC opener, next Saturday, Sept. 25, at Seton Hill University at noon.
