KUTZTOWN, Pa. – The Kutztown University baseball team had its 2021 season come to a close on Saturday afternoon, battling Millersville University, but falling twice by scores of 14-2 and 9-2 in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference East Division action at North Campus Field.
 
The Golden Bears finished their season with a 17-21 overall record and a mark of 11-21 in the PSAC. It's the most victories in a season and in conference since 2018.
 
A little over 24 hours after clinching the PSAC East Division crown, the Marauders combined for 28 hits and 23 runs in the doubleheader.
 
Eight different Maroon and Gold players had a hit, including 
Ethan Martini (Feasterville-Trevose, Pa./Father Judge), 
Mitchell Peers (Gilbertsville, Pa./Boyertown), 
Collin Bishop (Laurel Springs, N.J./Highland Regional), 
Zach Moretski (Harleysville, Pa./La Salle College H.S.), 
Andy Blum (Pottstown, Pa./Owen J. Roberts), 
Connor Teschko (Lumberton, N.J./Rancocas Valley Regional), 
Brandon Heere (Reading, Pa./Muhlenberg) and 
Joey Pettinelli (Broomall, Pa./Marple Newtown). Peers tallied two runs batted in and Bishop added one for KU.
 
Zach Male (Royersford, Pa./Spring-Ford) and 
Zach Peters (Lititz, Pa./Warwick) started games one and two respectfully and each threw well. Recognized for senior day prior to the opener, Peters threw a season-high 5.1 innings in the nightcap and allowed just four earned runs, striking out two. Male struck out four in 4.1 innings.
 
Kutztown honored five seniors as a part of senior day festivities this season in Peters, Bishop, Teschko, 
Evan Musto (Exeter, Pa./Wyoming Area) and 
Steve Wagner (Henderson, Nev./Boulder City). Head coach 
Eric Folmar will have a majority of the roster returning next season.
