BLOOMSBURG, Pa. – The Kutztown University baseball team split a doubleheader against No. 25 Bloomsburg University Saturday afternoon on the road in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference action. After dropping the first game 8-0, the Maroon and Gold bounced back late in the second game to earn the split.

Dominant pitching for the Huskies in game one left the Golden Bear bats without answers, as
Andy Blum (Pottstown, Pa./Owen J. Roberts) recorded the only hit in the game for Kutztown in an 8-0 setback.

In game two the Maroon and Gold started off slow offensively and then pieced together a nine-run sixth inning, taking control of the game on their way to a 13-6 victory.

After not allowing a run in the top of the first inning, the Huskies scored two runs in the bottom-half of the inning on three hits.

In the top of the second inning, Blum would lead off the inning with a single to left center, but would be stranded there the rest of the inning. This proved to be the only hit of the game for the Golden Bears.

Bloomsburg would go on to score another six runs scattered throughout the game to win game one of the series.

Chad Cooperman would get the win for the Huskies, his second of the year.
Dominic Proietto (Norristown, Pa./Norristown) would take the loss in game one.

The Golden Bears fell behind early in game two, as the Huskies scores two runs on two hits in the bottom of the first.

Neither team would score until the bottom of the fifth. The Huskies added their third run of the game.

The Kutztown offense would finally come alive in the top of the sixth inning, scoring nine runs on seven hits and sent 12 batters to the plate. After the first run would score on a fielder's choice,
Zach Moretski (Harleysville, Pa./La Salle College H.S.) would tie the game with a two-run homerun, his first of the season. After two more singles, the Golden Bears would take the lead on a double to left center by
Gavin Moretski (Harleysville, Pa./La Salle College H.S.), who would later come in to score after a
Collin Bishop (Laurel Springs, N.J./Highland Regional) three-run home run. After another KU hitter would reach base safely on a walk, Blum would continue his hot streak, connecting for his first career homerun.

After a scoreless bottom of the sixth, the Golden Bears would load the bases in the top of the seventh for
Ethan Martini (Feasterville-Trevose, Pa./Father Judge) to single up the middle and bring in another two runs.
Antonio Rossillo (Warrington, Pa./Archbishop Wood) would double down the left field line scoring Martini and Gavin Morestki.

Bloomsburg would go out fighting, scoring three runs on four hits in the bottom of seventh, but the Golden Bears held them off to complete the win.
