Women's swimming splits double dual at Millersville as McKee captures three victories

MILLERSVILLE, Pa. -- The Kutztown University women's swim team returned to the pool for the first time in two weeks, going 1-1 in a double dual at Millersville with a 161-81 victory over Juniata and a 151-89 setback against the host Marauders. Gracie McKee (Boyertown, Pa./Boyertown) collected three event wins, sweeping the backstroke races and taking the 200-yard individual medley.

McKee continued her impressive start to the season by once again posting PSAC Championship qualifying times in the 100 back, 200 back and 200 IM. Though she had previously surpassed the time standard in all three events, the Boyertown, Pa., native set a new season-best of 2:10.60 in the 200 back and moved into fifth place on the program's top 10 list. McKee's 200 IM time of 2:16.71 was just two-tenths off her season-best.

While McKee was Kutztown's (2-5, 1-5 PSAC) lone victor, the Golden Bears got solid performances from a few different swimmers.

Keelie Walker (York, Pa./York Suburban) was runner-up in the 100 breaststroke (1:12.65) and 200 IM (2:25.49), Ainsley Fischer (Newark, Del./Delaware Military Academy) registered the second-quickest time in the 200 freestyle (2:09.08) and Jade Ware (Easton, Pa./Wilson Area) was second in the 200 breast (2:45.63).

In total, 14 individuals set season-fast times across their respective events, while team season-best times were set by Jaylin Calistro (Temple, N.H./Contoocook Valley Regional) in the 200 fly (2:33.23), McKee in the 200 back, Walker in the 100 breast and Ware in the 200 breast.

Kutztown will take part in the three-day Franklin & Marshall Invitational next Friday-Sunday to wrap up the 2021 portion of its schedule.
