LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – The Kutztown University women's volleyball team won the second set, but could not climb all the way back in a 3-1 match loss to Lock Haven University in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference East Division competition. The Golden Bears are in their last week of competition and now stand at 8-18 overall on the season and 3-10 in conference play.
Senior
Erin Patterson (Garnet Valley, Pa./Garnet Valley) had a match-high 19 kills in the match, six of those kills came in the second set. The Golden Bears bounced back from a 25-21 loss in the first set to take the second set with a 25-21 win of their own. The Bald Eagles secured their victory in the final two sets by scores of 25-15 and 25-20.
Lexi Morrow (Landisburg, Pa./West Perry) tallied 35 assists in the match, while
Sydney Wilson (Bethlehem, Pa./Liberty) led the team with 17 digs. Lock Haven's offense benefited from a strong performance while serving. The Bald Eagles aced the Golden Bears 21 times during the match, over half of those coming from Gabriela Fialova and Kelly Gaston. Fiavola added 18 kills to state line on forty attempts in the match.
The Golden Bears will close out their season tomorrow, Saturday, Nov. 12, at 6 p.m., as they take on the Bloomsburg University Huskies on the road.
