KUTZTOWN, Pa. – The Kutztown University women's volleyball team fell in a five-set match to Bloomsburg University on Saturday afternoon in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference East Division action at Keystone Arena. Scores of the match were 25-23, 17-25, 25-21, 11-25, 8-15.
The Golden Bears (7-10 overall, 2-3 PSAC East) split a pair of PSAC East matches this weekend, previously victorious over Lock Haven in four sets on Friday night.
Kutztown held on to win the opening set by two points before the Huskies (8-9, 3-2) bounced back to take set two by eight and tie the match 1-1. KU trailed 5-3 in the third set, but went on a run to go ahead 6-5 and never trailed from then on out in taking back the match lead. Bloomsburg then found another gear and took the next two sets in emphatic fashion to take the match.
Lauren Jackson (Stafford, Va./Mountain View) and
Sophia Basler (Dover, Del./Smyrna) led the offense with 16 kills apiece, with Basler adding 24 digs, while
Emma Filipovits (Hanover, Pa./South Western) notched 14 kills.
Sydney Wilson (Bethlehem, Pa./Liberty) finished with 28 digs and eight assists.
Lexi Morrow (Landisburg, Pa./West Perry) contributed 41 assists and 15 digs.
After 10 straight matches at home, Kutztown will hit the road for its next six matches, beginning with its next one at Millersville University next Friday, Oct. 15, at 7 p.m.
