Argen's second straight golden goal lifts No. 3 women's soccer to 2-1 double overtime win at Shippensburg

SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. -- Kayla Argen (Cresco, Pa./Pocono Mountain East) scored off a feed from Savanna Harrison (Perkasie, Pa./Pennridge) with 1:08 remaining in double overtime for her second straight golden goal as the third-ranked Kutztown University women's soccer team picked up a 2-1 PSAC East victory at Shippensburg Saturday afternoon.

Kutztown, which recently clinched a spot in the PSAC Championship tournament, moved to 13-1 on the season and 11-1 in Eastern Division play, maintaining its spot atop the division table with 33 points, two better than West Chester.

Alisea Munshower (Dillsburg, Pa./Northern York) finished a pass from Isabella Rossetti (Cherry Hill, N.J./Cherry Hill East) in the 26th minute for her third goal of the season to put the Maroon and Gold out front in the early going.

Kutztown's offense produced frequent scoring opportunities by tallying 31 shots over the course of the game, 17 on target.

Shippensburg goalkeeper, Morgan Molyneaux, did what she could to keep the Raiders (4-8-2, 4-6-2 PSAC East) in the game with nine saves in the first half alone and 15 in the game.

Molyneaux's efforts were rewarded when the Raiders tied the game on a goal by Julia Dalton in the 79th minute.

Neither team could break the tie before the end of regulation. During the first overtime period each team had chances, but the deadlock remained.

As time wound down and a draw loomed, Harrison played a ball across the middle that found its way to Argen. The senior from Cresco, Pa., knocked it into the back of the net for her fifth game-winning goal of the fall, securing the 2-1 win for the Golden Bears.

Kutztown, which has now won three straight, is back at Keystone Field to take on Bloomsburg this coming Wednesday at 5 p.m.
