LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – The Kutztown University men's basketball team had a sluggish start to its game Saturday and could not battle all the way back as it dropped a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) East Division game Saturday afternoon 91-74 to Lock Haven University inside Thomas Fieldhouse.
The loss snapped a two-game win streak for the Golden Bears (10-12 overall, 8-8).
Ryan 'Boz' Bernstein (Bronx, N.Y./Marianapolis Prep) led the way for Kutztown, netting a career-high 23 points on 9-of-15 shooting from the floor, to go along with four assists.
Tarojae Brake (Coatesville, Pa./Octorara) tallied 14 points and seven rebounds.
Wesley Butler (Reading, Pa./Reading) recorded 12 points, two rebounds and three assists. It is the 16th straight game the freshman has scored in double-figures as he has netted at least 11 points in all but one game this season.
Kutztown fell behind to the Bald Eagles (10-11, 7-10) 47-32 at halftime, as it shot 42-percent (13-of-31) from the floor to Lock Haven's 53-percent (19-for-36). KU pulled to within 10 points three separate times, but was never able to cut its deficit to single digits in the second half.
Facundo Arens (Buenos Aires, Argentina/Bahia Blanca),
Sean Griffin (Abington, Pa./Phil-Mont Christian Academy) and
Kyree Generett (York, Pa./William Penn) all finished with seven points for the Maroon and Gold. Griffin added a new career-high with nine rebounds.
Josh Townsend (Philadelphia, Pa./Imhotep Charter) contributed four points and six rebounds.
Kutztown will play its next game also on the road when it takes on East Stroudsburg on Wednesday, Feb. 12, at Koehler Fieldhouse.
