MILLERSVILLE, Pa. – The lids seemed to be on the baskets for the Kutztown University men's basketball team as KU shot a season-low 29.7-percent in its lowest offensive output of the season, falling to Millersville University 75-54 Wednesday night in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) East Division game inside Pucillo gymnasium.
The Golden Bears (6-8 overall, 4-4 PSAC) found themselves down by just five points at halftime, trailing 41-36, but the Marauders (7-7, 4-4) outscored them 34-18 in the final 20 minutes of play as MU won its second straight game, also defeating East Stroudsburg on Monday.
Junior
Tarojae Brake (Coatesville, Pa./Octorara) and freshman
Wesley Butler (Reading, Pa./Reading) led KU with 11 points each. Butler also had three assists and two rebounds.
Ryan 'Boz' Bernstein (Bronx, N.Y./Marianapolis Prep) and
Kyree Generett (York, Pa./William Penn) both scored eight points, with Bernstein adding three rebounds and three assists.
Michael Smith III (Chester, Pa./Chester) had seven points and two rebounds.
Facundo Arens (Buenos Aires, Argentina/Bahia Blanca) tallied six points and two rebounds, while
Josh Townsend (Philadelphia, Pa./Imhotep Charter) recorded three points and 10 rebounds.
Akello Mosby (Philadelphia, Pa./Carver) grabbed nine boards for KU.
Kutztown will remain on the road for its next game this Saturday, Jan. 11, when it travels west to take on Mercyhurst University at 3 p.m.
