HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. -- Kutztown University women's tennis claimed its first victory in Hilton Head Island, 5-2, over Illinois Wesleyan on Tuesday.
The Golden Bears almost completed a doubles sweep, save for Illinois Wesleyan's tiebreaker win at first doubles. Shadimon Navvaro and
Jillian Siefert (Kutztown, Pa./Kutztown) cruised 8-1 over Kayleigh Ruffolo and Sydney Rowley at No. 3 and
Catherine Maher (Shillington, Pa./Berks Catholic) and
Amanda Grebosky (Reisterstown, Md./Mount de Sales Academy) doubled up Anna Cooper and Ashley Mohr, 8-4.
IWU (4-10) edged KU at No. 1 doubles with Sofia Pinheiro and Rebecca Rochacz winning 8-7 (4) over
Yasmeen Malik (Wernersville, Pa./Conrad Weiser) and
Alicia Pursell (Hamburg, Pa./Hamburg).
Kutztown put the match away in singles, taking four of the six flights.

Elyssa Tomczyk (Plainville, Conn./Plainville) and No. 5
Sarah Grebosky (Reisterstown, Md./Mount de Sales Academy) only dropped a game apiece in matching 6-1, 6-0 wins to put the Maroon and Gold (2-4) up 3-0.
Amanda Grebosky (Reisterstown, Md./Mount de Sales Academy) downed Mohr 6-4, 6-3 to clinch the match before Pursell beat Cooper 6-4, 6-1 at No. 2.
The Golden Bears will look to finish their trip to HHI with a victory on Thursday at 12:30 p.m. against Fairmont State out of the Mountain East Conference.
