Lee Moves Into Top-Five in PSAC-History in Career Points in Loss at East Stroudsburg

EAST STROUDSBURG, Pa. – Anthony Lee (Willow Grove, Pa./Abington) of the Kutztown University men's basketball team scored a game-high 36 points to move into fifth all-time in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) career points history, but KU was unable to hold off a second-half surge by East Stroudsburg University in falling 112-92 Wednesday night in PSAC East Division action at Koehler Fieldhouse.

Lee, who is second in KU history with 2,221 career points, continues to climb the ladder in not only program history, but also league history. He has now recorded double-digits in points in 56 consecutive games, with a minimum of two games remaining, including senior day at Keystone Arena on Saturday, March 2, where he will join classmates Ricky Hicks (Coatesville, Pa./Polytech) and David Johnson (Dunellen, N.J./Dunellen) in wearing the Kutztown white jersey for the final time.

Lee shot 50-percent (10-for-20) from the floor, including 5-of-7 from long range and 11-for-11 from the free-throw line, while adding six rebounds, three assists, two blocks and two steals for the Golden Bears (14-13 overall, 8-11 PSAC). His three assists put him over 300 for his career and he ranks ninth at KU with 302.

Josh Townsend (Philadelphia, Pa./Imhotep Charter) tallied his seventh double-double of the season and third in the last four games, netting 14 points and grabbing 11 rebounds. Hicks totaled 13 points, six assists and three rebounds. It was his highest-scoring game since scoring 19 at Bowie State on Jan. 2. Austin Laughlin (Glen Mills, Pa./Garnet Valley) rounded out the Maroon and Gold players in double-figures, making his sixth start of the season and contributing 10 points on 4-of-7 shooting overall.

In a back-and-forth first half, a Laughlin three-pointer gave KU a 35-34 lead with 4:24 left in the half. The Warriors (19-6, 16-3), who are now on an eight-game win streak, then went on a 7-0 run. But an 8-2 run by Kutztown cut its deficit to five at halftime, down 50-45.

Two straight baskets by Townsend and Laughlin made it just a one-point game at 50-49 1:03 into the second half, but East Stroudsburg scored 11 of the next 13 points and took control of the game. Kutztown did not get closer than six the rest of the way.

Five other Golden Bears found the scoresheet, including five each by Kiyon Hardy (Philadelphia, Pa./The Shipley School) and Da'Quan Granberry (Linwood, Pa./Chichester), four points from Akello Mosby (Philadelphia, Pa./Carver), three points by Kyree Generett (York, Pa./William Penn) and two from Johnson.

Kutztown will play in its final home game of the 2018-19 season Saturday at 3 p.m. against Lock Haven. It will honor three seniors prior to tip-off; Lee, Hicks and Johnson.
