MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – The Kutztown University softball team wrapped up its trip down south in Myrtle Beach, S.C. falling twice in the Snowbird Freeze Out Tournament Sunday, coming up just short against Southern New Hampshire 6-4 in game one and then was upended by Le Moyne 8-2 in game two of the double-header.

The Golden Bears (3-6 overall) finished the three-day tournament 2-3 overall in five games, winning two in a row with the latter game Friday and the solo game Saturday.

Sara Keeny (Warminster, Pa./William Tennent) finished the day 6-for-8, including a four-hit game one against Southern New Hampshire. She also had two runs and two RBI and a homerun.
Taylor Knappenberger (Schnecksville, Pa./Parkland) and
Tamara Jennings (Philadelphia, Pa./Nazareth Academy) each had three hits scattered across the two games Sunday.

Kutztown held a 4-1 lead heading into the bottom of the fifth inning with the Petey Penman, but the Penman scored five runs in the fifth and sixth to win the game.

In game two against the Dolphins, it was Le Moyne that got out in front first. The Dolphins scored three runs in their first at-bats and then one more in both the second and fourth innings to hold a 5-0 lead. KU's two runs came in the bottom-half of the fourth inning with RBI from Keeny and
Amber Brugger (Levittown, Pa./Neshaminy).

Sophomores
Hannah Auvil (Baltimore, Md./Sparrows Point) had a multi-hit day and
Jenna Lipowski (Nanticoke, Pa./Greater Nanticoke Area) tallied an RBI for KU.

Kutztown has nearly a month off before its next game. KU will compete in the Salem Invitational in Salem, V.A., beginning Friday, March 8, vs. West Virginia State.
