Four in Double-Figures in Men's Basketball Win Over Mansfield

KUTZTOWN, Pa. – The Kutztown University men's basketball team featured four different players scoring in double-figures and KU shot 50-percent from the floor in winning a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) game against Mansfield University 86-61 Saturday afternoon on a 'Play 4 Kay' day at Keystone Arena.

After a week off following a defeat at West Chester University last Saturday, the Golden Bears (14-11 overall, 8-9 PSAC) got back to their winning ways, and saw contributions from nine different players.

Redshirt-senior Anthony Lee (Willow Grove, Pa./Abington) was honored prior to the game with a commemorative ball for his 2,000-point milestone and a plaque for earning the Lehigh Valley Small College Basketball Media Pete Nevins Player of the Year award earlier this week. He led the way with a game-high 29 points, and added 10 rebounds for his first double-double of the season. He also had six assists, one block and three steals.

Da'Quan Granberry (Linwood, Pa./Chichester) tallied a season-high 15 points and grabbed six rebounds. Josh Townsend (Philadelphia, Pa./Imhotep Charter) reached another double-double, his second in a row and fifth in the last eight games, recording 14 points and 11 rebounds. Facundo Arens (Buenos Aires, Argentina/Bahia Blanca) rounded out the quartet of Golden Bears in double-digits, contributing 11 points, four rebounds and five assists.

Kutztown trailed for most of the first half in a sluggish start to the game. It was down by as many as 15 (33-18) with 6:03 left until halftime, but went into the locker rooms behind by just three, 38-35.

KU then scored six of the first eight points in the second half to take the lead 41-40 early in the second half and never looked back from there, remaining in control for the remainder of the 17 minutes.

Kyree Generett (York, Pa./William Penn), making his first collegiate start, had six points and three assists, Austin Laughlin (Glen Mills, Pa./Garnet Valley) tallied four points and Kiyon Hardy (Philadelphia, Pa./The Shipley School) added three. Ricky Hicks (Coatesville, Pa./Polytech) and Akello Mosby (Philadelphia, Pa./Carver) each had two points to round out the KU scoring.

Kutztown hits the road for a game at Millersville Wednesday at 7:30 p.m.
