FRIDAY RESULTS
LANCASTER, Pa. –
Lindsay Brenneman (Dover, Pa./Dover) led the field of 66 in the 500-Free after the preliminary round Thursday morning and then finished off what she started, winning the event in a new season-best time of 5:08.20 in the final of the 500-Free to highlight the Kutztown University women's swim team after day one at the Franklin & Marshall Invitational.
It is the first victory in the 500-Free at the large invitational for Brenneman in her career.
Charlotte Owens (Miamisburg, Ohio/Miamisburg) competed in the 200-IM final and also improved upon her morning time, finishing 23rd in a new season-best time of 2:18.78.
Owens also anchored the 200-Free relay team which also consisted of
Alexis Middaugh (Slatington, Pa./Northern Lehigh),
Keara Bedson (Ballston Spa, N.Y./Ballston Spa) and
Megan Hayward (Meshoppen, Pa./Tunkhannock).
The morning session of day two begins at 10 a.m. tomorrow, Saturday, Nov. 23. Events will include prelims of the 400-IM, 100-Fly, 200-Free, 100-Breast and 100-Back, along with the 800-Free relay.

PRELIMS
LANCASTER, Pa. – Junior
Lindsay Brenneman (Dover, Pa./Dover) of the Kutztown University women's swim team swam to a season-best time of 5:09.67 to pace the field of the 500-Free prelim in leading KU after the first session on day one of the Franklin & Marshall Invitational Friday afternoon.
Brenneman touched the wall faster than 65 other competitors and will head into Friday night's final as the No. 1 seed.
Megan Hayward (Meshoppen, Pa./Tunkhannock) just missed out qualifying for the final by two spots, placing 28th at a season-best time of 5:34.00.
The 400-Medley relay team of Brenneman,
Emmarose DeCaro (Apex, N.C./Apex),
Charlotte Owens (Miamisburg, Ohio/Miamisburg) and
Keelie Walker (York, Pa./York Suburban) just missed out on a top-10 finish, placing 11th in a time of 4:07.58. DeCaro, along with
Jocelyn Seidt (Sinking Spring, Pa./Wilson) earned Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference-qualifying times in the 100-Back as leadoffs for their respective relay teams.
Five of KU's six competitors in the 50-Free prelim earned season-best times, with the sixth,
Alexis Middaugh (Slatington, Pa./Northern Lehigh), swimming in the event for the first time this season. Walker (25.79),
Carley Wise (Wernersville, Pa./Conrad Weiser) (26.03), DeCaro (26.04),
Cara Green (Hanover, Pa./South Western) (27.42) and
Kelsey Jacobson (York, Pa./Dallastown) (27.87) all swam to their top times of the season in the event. Walker was the first spot left out of the final, missing it by just 0.01.
Owens will compete in the 200-IM final tonight as she placed 23rd in a season-best time of 2:19.67.
Session two on day one of the Invitational is set to begin at 6 p.m.
