ALTOONA, Pa. -- Ashley Fister (Northumberland, Pa./Shikellamy) rolled a pair of 200 games as the 25th-ranked Kutztown University women's bowling team went 2-3 with wins over Penn State Altoona and Felician in Saturday's traditional matches at the Red Flash Invitational.

The Golden Bears dropped a heartbreaker to LIU Post by two pins, 855-853, in their first match of the day. Angela Kozma's (Beachwood, N.J./Toms River South) team-leading 201 and a 183 from Renee Riffey (Glen Burnie, Md./North County) led the way for KU against the Pioneers.

KU (42-44) dropped its second match to Mount Aloysius, 904-821. Despite Fister's 204 --the day's highest score by a Golden Bear-- along with a 191 from Laura Hartley (Mt Pleasant Mills, Pa./Midd-West) and 190 by Riffey, the Maroon and Gold were outdone by 19th-ranked Mount St. Mary's, 960-881, in falling to 0-3. The Mount got three 200+ games in the win.

Fister's second straight 200 game paved the way for Kutztown's commanding 859-618 victory over Penn State Altoona. The Golden Bears and Felician went down to the final frame for the second consecutive day, and once again KU emerged victorious, this time by an 880-863 count. Kozma registered a 188 with Fister close by at 185.

Fister's 183 average was tops on the day for Kutztown. Riffey, coming off a great showing at the Kutztown Invitational last weekend, bowled a 901 series to average 180.2.

The Golden Bears, 6-4 on the weekend to this point, came up 67 pins shy of the fourth-seed and a chance to compete for Sunday's championship. Kutztown, which has a total pinfall of 4,264, is seeded fifth and will face sixth-seeded Felician tomorrow at 8 a.m. in the opening round of double elimination bracket play.

KU can finish as high as third with a perfect 3-0 day to wrap up competition at the Red Flash Invitational.
