MILLERSVILLE, Pa. -- Competing in its first traditional meet since the first day of December, the Kutztown University women's swim team got three event victories from
Lindsay Brenneman (Dover, Pa./Dover) in capturing dual victories over host Millersville, 165.5-92.5, and LIU Post, 128-119, Saturday.
Brenneman won both distance freestyle races comfortably, taking the 1000-yard free by more than 21 seconds with a time of 11:14.00, and later the 500 by just under five seconds (5:30.90) over teammate
Alison McLaughlin (Hatfield, Pa./North Penn).
The sophomore from Dover, Pennsylvania, also triumphed in the 200 butterfly, turning in a 2:21.29, which was 12 seconds ahead of Millersville's Rylan Tepe in second.
Seniors
Katerina Parowski (Altoona, Pa./Altoona) and
Claire Frank (Macungie, Pa./Emmaus) added a win apiece for Kutztown (7-2).
Parowski led a Golden Bears 1-2-3 in the 50 free, clocking in at 25.98.
Emmarose DeCaro (Apex, N.C./Apex) was second (26.37) and
Carley Wise (Wernersville, Pa./Conrad Weiser) third (26.56).
Frank held off teammate
Keelie Walker (York, Pa./York Suburban) to claim the 200 individual medley in 2:19.21. Walker, a freshman, set her season-best time in the event with a 2:22.71.
In addition to five victories, KU swimmers racked up seven runner-up finishes. Both the 200 medley and 200 free relay teams also posted runner-up efforts.
McLaughlin was second in the 200 free (2:03.98) and 500 free (season-best 5:35.29), while Walker added runner-up finishes in the 100 breaststroke (1:14.21) and 200 breast (2:43.05). Parowski placed runner-up in the 100 free (57.43).
Kutztown returns to the pool next Saturday, taking part in the East Stroudsburg University Invitational.
