SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – Anthony Lee (Willow Grove, Pa./Abington) of the Kutztown University men's basketball team poured in a game-high 39 points, but KU could not stop Shippensburg University on the road Saturday afternoon as it dropped the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) East Division matchup at Heiges Field House 100-85.
 
It was the first loss for the Golden Bears (10-7 overall, 4-5 PSAC) in four games as they had won three in a row and four-of-five before Saturday.
 
Lee added six rebounds, three assists and two steals in 39 minutes of action. Ricky Hicks (Coatesville, Pa./Polytech) totaled 10 points, four rebounds and five assists as the other KU player in double-figures. The Raiders (14-3, 8-1), who entered Saturday at the top of the East Division, sported five players that scored double-digits, including two that scored at least 20 and another that just missed with 19.
 
The Maroon and Gold battled for the first 20 minutes and were trading punches with Shippensburg for the entirety of the first half as it trailed 45-38 at halftime. The Raiders began to take control over the course of the first 10 minutes of the second half, holding double-digit leads. But Kutztown had runs of 9-0 and 10-2 in the middle portion of the half and pulled within just four at 69-65 and 9:57 on the clock. That was the closest KU would get, however, as the Raiders answered with 15 of the next 17 points to push further ahead.
 
Facundo Arens (Buenos Aires, Argentina/Bahia Blanca) tallied nine points and three rebounds, Kiyon Hardy (Philadelphia, Pa./The Shipley School) had eight points and two assists and Da'Quan Granberry (Linwood, Pa./Chichester) chipped in seven points, two rebounds and two blocks, tying a season-high for the freshman. Josh Townsend (Philadelphia, Pa./Imhotep Charter) contributed four points and three boards.
 
Moe Williams (Townsend, Del./Life Center Academy) and freshmen Kyree Generett (York, Pa./William Penn), Akello Mosby (Philadelphia, Pa./Carver) and Dylan Elliott (Sicklerville, N.J./Timber Creek) all added two points each for the Golden Bears.
 
Kutztown remains on the road for its next PSAC East game as it takes on Mansfield University on Wednesday, Jan. 16, at 7:30 p.m.
