KUTZTOWN, Pa. – The Kutztown University football team won its fourth-straight game, defeating Bloomsburg University 44-10 in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) East Division action on Family Day Saturday evening inside of Andre Reed Stadium.
KU (4-0 overall, 1-0 PSAC East) delivered its most complete effort of the season, dominating the Huskies on both sides of the ball. The offense rolled up 488 total yards, scoring six touchdowns, four of which came in the first half. On the defensive end, the Maroon and Gold gave up just 196 yards and one score.
Craig Reynolds (Willow Grove, Pa./Abington) opened the scoring with a 14-yard touchdown run in the first quarter on his way to 112 yards on 18 carries and three touchdowns on the ground. Reynolds has now rushed for 29 touchdowns in his career, moving into second all-time at KU.
Tyler Borg (Lititz, Pa./Lititz Christian) caught his second pass of the season, finding the end zone with 4:02 left in the second quarter on a six-yard pitch-and-catch from Kutztown quarterback
Eric Nickel (Bridgewater, N.J./Bridgewater-Raritan) for his first career score.
In the second half,
Alec Rosenfeld (Bensalem, Pa./Bensalem) knocked in his first field goal of the season to put the Golden Bears ahead 31-3 with 6:07 remaining in the third quarter.
Diego Torres (York, Pa./West York Area) caught his first touchdown pass of the season from
Collin DiGalbo (Secane, Pa./Monsignor Bonner) on the second play of the fourth quarter as the Maroon and Gold continued to pour it on. DiGalbo's rushing touchdown with 6:55 to go put the final seal on the Golden Bears' fourth consecutive victory, their first in PSAC Eastern Division play.
The quarterback duo of DiGalbo and Nickel, each receiving the PSAC East Division Athlete of the Week after KU's last two games, combined to pass to 10 different receivers on the night.
Abdul-Hassan Neblett (Newark, N.J./Paramus Catholic) added 80 yards on nine carries.
Alstan Wolfe (Hellertown, Pa./Saucon Valley) led the receiving corps with six receptions for 50 yards.
Brandon Smith (North Plainfield, N.J./North Plainfield) added four catches for 30 yards.
Junior cornerback
Ahkee Cox-Cowan (Harrisburg, Pa./Harrisburg) had a season-high three pass breakups, giving him the solo spot in third all-time at KU. Junior linebacker
Luke Snyder (Levittown, Pa./Pennsbury) had a career night, finishing with 11 total tackles, leading the charge, twice as many as the next Golden Bears defender. Snyder and
Dave Calderon (Willingboro, N.J./Neptune (New Haven)) each had 1.5 sacks and
Adam Krauter (Springfield, Pa./Springfield Township) added a sack for KU.
Kutztown hits the road next weekend for its second PSAC East contest, traveling to take on East Stroudsburg University on Saturday, Oct. 6 in another night game at 6:05 p.m.
