LITTLE EGG HARBOR, N.J. – Sophomore
Angela Kozma (Beachwood, N.J./Toms River South) and freshman
Keanna Delp (Mifflinburg, Pa./Mifflinburg Area) led the Kutztown University women's bowling team Sunday with 19+ frame averages, helping the Golden Bears win 2-of-3 matches for a 10th-place finish at the Hawk Flight Invite, hosted by Monmouth University.
The Golden Bears (66-42) went 8-5 in their final regular season meet of the year with wins over No. 21 Norfolk State (4-1) and Felician (4-1) Sunday to advance to the ninth-place match. KU went up against Youngstown State for the second time this weekend, but after winning a narrow seven-pin match on Friday, Kutztown fell 4-1 Sunday in its final match of the weekend.
Kozma held a team-high 19.9 frame average on Sunday, followed closely by Delp at 19.4. KU's top performers were rounded out by
Ella Luzzi (Spring Lake, N.J./Manasquan) at 17.3 and senior
Jenn Fitts (Birdsboro, Pa./Twin Valley) at 17.1.
Kutztown looks ahead to two postseason events later this month. KU will compete at the United States Bowling Congress (USBC) Sectionals on March 9-11 in Stratford, N.J., where both individuals and teams will have the chance to qualify for the USBC National Championships in April.
KU's postseason championship, the East Coast Conference (ECC) Championships, are slated for March 23-25 in Mineola, N.Y.
