Women’s Basketball Picks Up First PSAC Win of 2018 over Clarion

KUTZTOWN, Pa. – Fueled by a combined 40-25 run in the second and third quarters, the Kutztown University women's basketball team got itself back in the win column on Sunday afternoon, downing Clarion University 66-55 for its first Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) victory of the 2018-19 season.

KU snapped a losing streak of four-straight with the win, leading for 35:24 of the 40 minutes of game play. Rylee Derr (Lititz, Pa./Warwick) scored a team-high 21 points on 4-of-9 shooting from distance, adding five assists and six rebounds. Karen Lapkiewicz (Southampton, Pa./Saint Basil Academy) had an efficient 15 points, going 6-of-8 from the field in 35 minutes of action. Taylor Thames (Colmar, Pa./North Penn) rounded out the Golden Bears' trio of double-digit scorers, chipping in 11 points while grabbing five rebounds and dishing out four assists.
