Lindsay Brenneman (Dover, Pa./Dover) of the Kutztown University women's swimming team set another new Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference-qualifying mark, the second straight day, and freshman
Charlotte Owens (Miamisburg, Ohio/Miamisburg) won the 200-breast on day two Saturday afternoon to conclude its tri-meet with PSAC foes Cal U and East Stroudsburg.
In the team score category, KU defeated ESU for the second time this season, 216-182, but was downed by Cal, 224-166. The Golden Bears fell to both of these teams in the same tri-match last year and at 3-2 are off to their best start since the 2016-17 campaign.
For the second consecutive day, Brenneman earned a new PSAC mark. Friday night it came in the 500-free and Saturday she swam a time of 18:52.64 to qualify in the 1650-free. Brenneman placed second in that event and also won the 500-free at 5:33.84.
Owens also won her first career individual event, earning first place in the 200-breast at 2:40.69 and was also a part of the 400-medley relay team of
Claire Frank (Macungie, Pa./Emmaus),
Emmarose DeCaro (Apex, N.C./Apex) and
Alison McLaughlin (Hatfield, Pa./North Penn) that took second.
McLaughlin placed second in the 100-free and
Katerina Parowski (Altoona, Pa./Altoona) earned a second-place finish behind Brenneman in the 500-free.
Kutztown will next compete at Juniata College on Saturday, Nov. 10 at 1 p.m.
