Men’s Basketball Lights up Scoreboard in Return to Keystone Arena

KUTZTOWN, Pa. – The Kutztown University men's basketball team put up a season-high 54 points in the first half and saw its way to a 92-52 non-conference victory over Cheyney Saturday night in its first game at Keystone Arena this season.

The Golden Bears (3-1 overall) played their first three games of the season on the road, two in a Conference Challenge in West Liberty, W. Va., and a third last Wednesday in at the University of the Sciences.

It's easy to say that KU enjoyed being back on its home floor as it lit up the new baskets at Keystone. And it happened in front of former KU men's basketball players as the program held its alumni game prior to tip.

The Maroon and Gold shot 55.9 percent (19-of-34) from the floor in the first half, including 55.6 percent (5-for-9) from long distance to stake a 54-22 lead heading into the locker rooms at halftime. It also defended the basketball, forcing the Wolves into an 8-for-28 (28.6%) shooting half.

The second half was more of the same, as KU outscored Cheyney 38-30.

The win gives Kutztown two in a row.

Sophomore guard Kiyon Hardy (Philadelphia, Pa./The Shipley School) continues to impress, starting the last four game. He finished with 11 points, five rebounds and six assists. His backcourt mate Ricky Hicks (Coatesville, Pa./Polytech) tallied seven points, three rebounds and three assists.

Moe Williams (Townsend, Del./Life Center Academy) stuffed the stat sheets, finishing with his first double-double of the season at 15 points and 10 rebounds. Anthony Lee (Willow Grove, Pa./Abington) tallied 18 points and seven rebounds and was 3-of-5 from three-point land.

A season-high 12 different players recorded points for the Golden Bears. Dylan Elliott (Sicklerville, N.J./Timber Creek) had a season-high 12 points (4-of-4 from three), Kyree Generett (York, Pa./William Penn) contributed seven points and Austin Laughlin (Glen Mills, Pa./Garnet Valley) helped the freshmen trio with seven points. Two other freshmen, Akello Mosby (Philadelphia, Pa./Carver) and KyAire Sumpter (Harrisburg, Pa./Harrisburg) each found the scorebook, notching two points apiece.

Kutztown is on the road once again for its next game, traveling to take on Lincoln (Pa.) University on Tuesday, Nov. 20, at 7 p.m.
