KUTZTOWN, Pa. – The 20th-ranked Kutztown University football team received a bid into the NCAA Tournament for just the third time in program history, earning the four seed in Super Region One and will host the fifth seed and 23rd-ranked Hillsdale College in the First Round on Saturday at 12:05 p.m. at Andre Reed Stadium in a nationally-ranked top-25 matchup.

Following a dramatic late-game effort to win 33-32 in overtime at Edinboro last weekend, the Golden Bears (9-1 overall) were excited to hear that they jumped into a top-four spot in the regional rankings and will play another game on their campus, just the third ever NCAA Tournament game at Kutztown. Kutztown and Hillsdale (9-2) will meet on the gridiron for the first time on Saturday. KU is winners of two straight and 24 of its last 29. The Chargers had an eight-game win streak snapped last Saturday to Indianapolis 34-24.

Kutztown's nine wins match its most since 2011, KU's last appearance in the NCAA Tournament. A win on Saturday would mark KU's third-ever 10-win season and advance the Golden Bears to a matchup
with top-seeded Notre Dame (OH) in the second round of the NCAA playoffs.

The momentum continued to roll for the program this week as 12 Golden Bears received All-PSAC recognition, six on offense, five on defense and one on special teams.

Kutztown is 1-1 against nationally-ranked teams this season, defeating No. 17 Assumption 32-28 in the season opener on Sept. 1, but fell to No. 12 West Chester 38-21 on Oct. 27. The Maroon and Gold are 1-2 overall in the NCAA Tournament and 1-1 at home, with the last home game in 2011 a KU victory.

Kutztown ranks second in the PSAC in total offense (464.8) second in passing (285.1). The offense has scored 30+ points in every game but one this season. On the defensive side of the ball, KU's red zone defense (60.0, sixth) and red zone conversion percentage (89.1, tenth) are among the best in Division II.

Hillsdale is in the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2010, and has also qualified three times altogether. The Chargers offense was fourth in their conference at 33.0 points per game and their defense was first, allowing just 19.1 ppg.

In what could be a high-scoring affair, buckle your seat belts, it will be an exciting atmosphere at Andre Reed Stadium on Saturday.
